I began my career in the helping professions in 1991, working mainly one to one but also later on with groups. Deciding to focus on counselling I took a number of formal counselling courses whilst my employment moved into coaching with some counselling skills in the fields of drug and alcohol addiction.

I have worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors in addition to my private practice.

I am a former Director of Therapy Matters Ltd in addition to being a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and Supervisor.

I am qualified to diploma level in relationships counselling with my training carried out by Relationships Scotland and validated by Napier University, Edinburgh.

My Qualifications

My Diplomas in Online Counselling and Online Supervision are accredited by CPBAB and was delivered by Therapy Matters Ltd.

I am also qualified as a Supervisor by UK Awarding Body Consortium / COSCA with the Casework Supervision training being delivered by Relationships Scotland.

I have undergone specialist post graduate training with the Relate Institute to work with all sexual issues, including addiction.

Listening Carefully

To enrich my work and keep fully up to date with current practice CPD is a big part of my practice. Topics include looking at the links between substance abuse & domestic abuse, sex & relationships for people with ASD, LGBT and Young People, domestic abuse in black & minority ethnic communities, deaf awareness training for counsellors and working safely with couples where there is domestic abuse.

I have had specific training on living and working with dissociation to enable supportive therapeutic support to those who are recovering from dissociative disorders.

I work with gender & sexual diversity clients in an affirmative manner.

Professional Membership

I am also registered with the Information Commissioner as a controller of sensitive data under the Data Protection Act (1998). I follow the government recommendations and guidelines for storing and handling sensitive data (such as transcripts of counselling sessions and my notes). My registration number is Z2685699.
